Idea Summary
Add a built-in parent-child (master-detail / breakdown) report format to Interactive Report (IR), Interactive Grid (IG) and Classic Report. Each parent row would be expandable/collapsible to show its related child rows directly beneath it, declaratively, without custom JavaScript or nested regions.
Use Case
Many business reports need hierarchical breakdowns, for example Orders with Order Lines, Departments with Employees, or Invoices with Line Items. Today developers must build workarounds such as separate master-detail regions, custom HTML/JavaScript, or row-level dynamic content. A native parent-child breakdown format would give users one consistent, easy-to-read view of summary and detail data in the same report, and would reduce development effort.
Preferred Solution (Optional)
Provide a declarative attribute on IR, IG and Classic Report, for example Report Format = Parent/Child Breakdown, where the developer selects a child query or region and a column mapping (parent key to child foreign key). Parent rows show an expand/collapse icon, with an Expand All / Collapse All option. Child rows load on demand (lazy loading) and support the same features as the report type, such as sorting, filtering, download and, for IG, editing.
