Idea Summary
Allow developers and end-users to control the visibility of saved Public Reports in Interactive Grids (IG) and Interactive Reports (IR) by assigning them to specific APEX Roles, User Groups, or Authorization Schemes.
Currently, when a Public Report is saved, it is globally visible to every user who has access to the Interactive Grid/Report region. The existing Save Public Report Authorization setting only restricts who can create or save a public report, but APEX lacks a mechanism to scope who can see that saved report once created.
Use Case
-
Role-Based Workspaces: In applications serving multiple user roles (e.g., Providers, Administrators, Financial Auditors) on the same underlying data table/grid, each role often requires distinct default views, column sets, and filters.
-
Streamlined UI / Security Hygiene: Restricting specialized public views to target user groups keeps the saved report drop-down clean for general users, preventing confusion and avoiding accidental exposure of complex query layouts intended solely for specific operational roles.
Preferred Solution (Optional)
-
Attribute Extension for Saved Reports: Add an "Authorization Scheme" or "Target User Group/Role" property to Public/Alternative saved report configurations in Page Designer.
-
Runtime Metadata Evaluation: At runtime, when fetching the saved reports list for an Interactive Grid/Report component, APEX should evaluate whether the current user meets the authorization scheme or role defined for each public report and only render the matching reports in the saved reports menu.
