Shared Reporting Preferences for Private User Groups in Oracle APEX

Idea Summary
Enable users to save and share interactive report filter preferences with designated private groups, improving report usability and standardizing data views across team members without exposing preferences publicly.

Use Case
In Oracle APEX applications with multiple user types and roles, users frequently need to apply the same report filters repeatedly

Preferred Solution (Optional)
Implement a Private Group Filter Sharing feature in APEX interactive reports that allows users to:

  • Save report filter preferences with a descriptive name and optional documentation
  • Share saved filters with specific user groups rather than public or personal-only options
  • Control access granularity: view-only, apply, or edit permissions per group
We reviewed this idea carefully, and while it was interesting, we concluded that it is unlikely to make its way into APEX in the foreseeable future.
