Application menu search

Idea Summary
Ability to search application menu by name and description

Use Case
It becomes increasingly difficult for end users to remember menu navigation when menus are more. A google like search will help end users/

Preferred Solution (Optional)
> Oracle cloud  menu has recently implemented this feature. You may include description (not displayed) which is searchable

This is currently on the roadmap for a future release of Oracle APEX.

    Hi Sharad – have you tried using the built-in APEX search functionality? It already searches the APEX menu bar items and you can access this search from anywhere using the built-in keyboard shortcut (Command/Control + Single Quote).

    I think the goal here is to have a page item that is wired up to be a search of navigation items (lists?) automatically somehow?

    Hi Shakeeb,

    You are right. Apex has good search functionality. But it is for developers. This ask is for end users with no dev privileges. Especially becomes important when number of pages in the application are high with complex hierarchical menu.

    If you have a side menu this can be done rather easy with some plugins that are available. If you have a top menu those plugins does not work so it would be nice with some out of the box functionality.

    Plugins can break (as is the case with APEX 21 and the SearchNavigationMenu plugin that everyone is using).

    This should be a standard APEX menu feature.
