Native integration to Power BI via REST

fdloubser Public
· Aug 20 2021

Idea Summary
Allow queries in Apex and ORDS REST to be consumed by Power BI visualizations. The current pagination does not work with the Power BI REST connector. Form a standard between Microsoft and Oracle.

Use Case
Visualizations in Power BI for managers

Preferred Solution (Optional)

We reviewed this idea carefully and came to the conclusion that it does not constitute an appropriate APEX feature request.

Are you after visualizing data from an ORDS REST API  in Power BI (data flows from the Oracle Database to Power BI), or the other way around, which would be integrating data from Power BI in APEX applications?

Visualizing Apex data in Power BI. Currently the paging provided by Oracle does not conform to that used by Power BI.

It is not for pleasure that we ask for it but actually it would be very practical.

Did not look into this until today.

As this is about exposing data from the Oracle Database as a certain REST flavor, this is not really the area of APEX. All matters of publishing REST APIs from APEX or the Oracle Database are ORDS functionality.

There is no “ORDS Ideas” app, so my recommendation would be to raise that topic in the ORDS forum for a discussion.

Pretend I don't know what Microsoft BI supports for ingesting REST APIs. Please be specific in what you're needing.

Also, you need to file a sister-ER to MSFT to have them support OUR REST standard here at Oracle.
