Kanban Board

A Kanban board report template would greatly improve functionality for multiple types of reports, such as tasks or anything where a status is tracked. I have found one plugin that handles this (https://github.com/McRange/Material-Kanban-Board), but would prefer to have this functionality built in to APEX directly.

We reviewed this idea carefully, and while it was interesting, we concluded that due to all the internal implications we need to take into account, it is unlikely to make its way into APEX.

    There's already a plugin for this, don't see why it needs to be part of the core product…

    @morten: as i can see - the plugin you are supposedly writing about is from McRange (Matthias  Range) on gitHub (that's what csmaughan is suggesting). I would like a “built in” solution too. :-j

    I've implemented the plugin a number of times and it's extremely functional. I personally don't see that adding a built-in solution would add anything beyond what is already in that plugin. 

    In fact, often when things are “brought into the main code line” they become less flexible because they need to be more generic to suit a wider set of use cases.

    On the other hand, the implementation in the plugin binds to a specific author and does not give a full guarantee of successful work in new versions of APEX.

    This would be great having this kind of commponent built in apex without needing plugins. Classic reports, Interactive reports and interactive grids could be unified in just one, and add kanban support to apex.

    This is a very specific feature for general purpose use across APEX.  I would recommend using the plug-in as it provides an immediate solution.

    Let’s close the Ideas app and encourage developers to do their plugins, no need to bring more functionality to the core. 😒

    3 years ago?  Has anything changed?  This is not a specific feature and can be applied in many general use.  Why can't this be part of the core?  If 3rd parties can do it, it's obviously capable of being added.  If not, then just do an add-on extension optional to all.
