MIN and MAX Functions for Date Grouping in Interactive Reports

Idea Summary
Currently, in Oracle APEX, Interactive Reports offer a grouping feature that allows various aggregate functions such as SUM, AVG, MIN, and MAX. However, the MIN and MAX functions are only available for numeric columns, excluding DATE columns.

This limitation directly impacts users who need to quickly view the earliest or latest date within a group. For example, in an order report, it would be useful to group by customer and display the first and last order date within the group.

Use Case
Users frequently need to analyze data based on date ranges. For example:

  • In an order report, group by customer and display the earliest and latest order dates.
  • In an employee attendance report, group by department and display the first and last check-in dates.
  • In a project management dashboard, group by project and display the start and end dates of tasks.

Preferred Solution (Optional)
Enable the MIN and MAX aggregate functions for DATE columns in Interactive Reports, similar to their functionality for numeric columns. This would allow users to select these functions directly from the grouping options, improving usability and efficiency.
