Audit Information history of apex components to see who created or updated at what time

gokhan.tok Public
· Oct 20 2021

Idea Summary
Currently I only see the last changed by person and last changed date of components in apex page designer. And when the application or page is imported, that values are disappearing.
I would like to have full history of apex components to see who created or updated, so that I can better analyze the changes made on pages.

Use Case
When page is exported and imported to workspace, I want to see the this history in this imported page also.

If one of my team mates claims he didn't make the change, I want a proof of it :)

Preferred Solution (Optional)
A report button can be added to the Audit Information section.
Adding history info into export file

We reviewed this idea carefully, and while it was interesting, we concluded that due to all the internal implications we need to take into account, it is unlikely to make its way into APEX.

A great idea to begin with. When you're working as a team on an Apex application, it may become hard to keep track of the changes and adjust accordingly. I can not explain how many hours of time this feature would save me.

This is excatly what we need!

At minimum, we (well maybe a few, but not all) developers export a page after each change and check in the page export into SVN.  That (if everyone does it) would help, but yes, it would not be as accurate as your suggestion.

Yeah I'm updating some apps… and going back to the main developer's to show them what changes I've made is a headache.

I can't keep track of all of my changes because there are many of them… but being able to see perhaps the history of changes - right there in the interface - could be helpful. So I would be able to clearly show them the ‘before’ and ‘after’.
