These practices will help you install and configure the Services Gatekeeper Platform Development Studio. You will then use it to create a Soap-to-Soap Communications Service.

      Practices:

      • Installing and Configuring the Platform Development Studio
      • Configuring and starting local SOAP and RESTful web services
      • Building, deploying, configuring and testing a Soap-to-Soap Communication Service

    • The Product

Oracle Communications Services Gatekeeper provides the infrastructure for opening up the operators telecom network for third-party applications. Services Gatekeeper also provides the infrastructure for administrating the relationship with service providers and maintaining the service level agreements.

      The Course

This Services Gatekeeper course is a self-paced, offline course. Currently, only the course practices are available. The practices are provided in a PDF file and include step-by-step instructions. With its detailed, hands-on tutorials, you will walk away with a complete environment, suitable for prototyping and testing.

      The Audience

The audience for this course are application developers, system architects, and integration developers who want to understand Services Gatekeeper.

      Prerequisites

There are no mandatory prerequisites for this course.

    • Platform Test Environment (PTE) Practices

These practices will help you install the Platform Test Environment (PTE) as an addition to a basic installation of Services Gatekeeper.  Then you will configure plug-ins, accounts and SLAs before using the PTE for testing User Location, Short and Multimedia Messaging. There are also optional practices for using SoapUI as a test client.

      Practices:

      • Installing the Platform Test Environment (PTE) as an addition to a basic installation
      • Provisioning plug-ins, accounts and SLAs
      • Using the PTE for User Location, SMS and MMS
      • Using SoapUI as a test client

    • Portal Practices

These practices will help you install the API Portals as an addition to a basic installation of Services Gatekeeper.  Then you will use the Management Portal and the Partner Portal to define APIs, onboard a partner and help the partner use the API.

      Practices:

      • Installing the API Portals as an addition to a basic installation
      • Configuring and starting local SOAP and RESTful web services
      • Defining APIs for the web services
      • On-boarding a partner
      • Using the APIs
      • Modifying APIs

    • Core Practices

These practices will help you do a core installation of Services Gatekeeper. You will also do some basic administrative tasks and learn to navigate the documentation.

      Practices:

      • Downloading and installing Services Gatekeeper in the virtual machine
      • Configuring a domain for the Portal and PTE practices
      • Starting the servers
      • Configuring logging
      • Navigating the documentation

    • Preparation Package

This package contains the necessary files and instructions to set up your practice environment for the Services Gatekeeper course. You will download a zip-file with the instructions in pdf format, and the lab files in a tar-file.

      Practices:

      • Downloading, installing, and configuring a pre-built virtual machine
      • Installing additional third-party software needed for the practices
      • Installing lab files for all practices

    • API Practices

These practices will help you install the API version of Services Gatekeeper. This installation sets up everything you need to get started quickly. Then you will use the Management Portal and the Partner Portal to define APIs, onboard a partner and help the partner use the API.

      Practices:

      • Downloading and installing Services Gatekeeper in the virtual machine
      • Configuring and starting local SOAP and RESTful web services
      • Defining APIs for the web services
      • On-boarding a partner
      • Using the APIs
      • Modifying APIs
      • Changing the look and feel of the portal

    • The Practice Instructions

This Services Gatekeeper course is a self-paced, offline course. The practice instructions are provided as PDF files and include step-by-step instructions. With its detailed, hands-on tutorials, you will walk away with a complete environment that is suitable for prototyping and testing.

      The Practice Environment

The practices use a virtual machine that you download and setup. The software that runs the virtual machines is Oracle VM Virtual Box. You need to have administrative rights on your computer to be able to disable or reconfigure any local firewall or CPU-intensive background processes, if necessary. The virtual machines require a computer that fulfills the following specifications:

      • Operating System: Windows, Linux, OS X, or Solaris
      • CPU: Preferably a dual core, at least 2 GHz
      • RAM: At least 8 GB of RAM
      • Hard Drive: At least 20 GB of free space

      The Practice Structure

      Order of practices

    • Interceptor Examples

This lab package contains the source code and build files for a couple of interceptor examples.
The instructions, which also are in the lab package, helps you unpack, compile, deploy and test the following interceptor examples:

      • The Request Parameter Interceptor
This interceptor unpacks the SMS message and appends a text to the end of the message.
      • The Singleton Counter Interceptor
This interceptor uses another class, Counter, which is a singleton. With each invocation of the interceptor, the number in the counter is increased and written to standard output.
      • The Reject Dirty Message interceptor
This interceptor unpacks the SMS message and if the message contains a word that is considered inappropriate, the whole message is rejected.
      • The Request Context Attributes Interceptor
This interceptor scans the Service Provider and and Application service level agreements (SLAs) and look for a couple of extra context attributes and prints the values of these to standard output.

These interceptors will help you get started to write, compile and deploy your own custom interceptors.

    • EDR Listeners

This lab package contains the source code and build files for two EDR listeners, one standalone and one deployable..

The instructions, which also are in the lab package, helps you unpack, compile, deploy and test these EDR listeners.

These EDR listeners will help you get started to write, compile and deploy your own custom EDR listeners.
