You will learn the fundamentals of Oracle Java Cloud Service including:

• Benefits of the Oracle Cloud.
• An introduction to Java Cloud Service concepts and component parts.
• Provisioning Java Cloud Services, and supporting services.
• Managing Java Cloud Services at the virtual machine and WebLogic Server levels.
• Deploying, testing and managing applications in an Oracle Java Cloud Service.

During this free, 3-week MOOC you will watch videos, complete homework and interact with fellow students and facilitators to guide your experience in gaining an introductory understanding of Oracle's Java Cloud Service and how it can be used to host Java Enterprise Edition applications.

Understanding of following is helpful but not required:

• WebLogic Server - Basic understanding of WebLogic Server terms and concepts including Domain, Cluster, Server, and Machine.
• Familiarity with Java Enterprise Application.
• Familiarity with Oracle Coherence or general data grid concepts.
• Familiarity with load balancers, specifically Oracle Traffic Director.

Approximately 3 - 5 hours weekly

Each week, one set of lesson information is made available.  Lesson materials are available 24/7 until the end of the course.  You can access the material any time, and interact with other students and the instructor using the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) Community for MOOCs.

A lesson consists of the following:

1. A series of videos and supporting materials, presented in order to explore the content for that week.
2. Demonstrations, a series of video's exploring the tasks learned each week.
3. Homework, a series of exercises which the student can follow to illustrate and reinforce the weeks content.
4. Assessments, a series of short quizzes are provided each week to assess your understanding.

There are course quizzes, by week. You will have 3 attempts to pass each quiz. Score 70% or greater on each of the quizzes and you will receive a course completion award. Quiz questions are based on the course content and homework.
