Oracle IoT Asset Monitoring Cloud Service

In this learning path, you create the required entities for configuring the Oracle IoT Asset Monitoring Cloud Service. You import device models, set up simulated devices, create asset types, assets, places, and rules. You also simulate scenarios to triggers rules, and set up different Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Introduction
      duration 0 Min
After completing this learning path, you will be able to configure the required entities for Oracle IoT Asset Monitoring Cloud Service. You will also be able to monitor all of the created business entities and view results.

    • In Oracle IoT Asset Monitoring Cloud Service, you can import or create simulated entities, such as device models, devices, asset types, and assets.

You can create geofences by uploading images. Oracle IoT Asset Monitoring Cloud Service also allows you to create and trigger different rules that help you monitor your assets, for example: misplacement detection rules, and incident generation rules.

You customize Oracle IoT Asset Monitoring Cloud Service for business-specific needs by creating custom KPIs and Pattern Based Anomalies.

  • Create a Simulated Device Model
      duration 2 Min
Learn how to set up the device entities needed for configuring the IoT Asset Monitoring Cloud. You define device models for two types of typical assets used in factories: an industrial Air Handler and a Forklift, by using pre-created device models. Key steps performed in this exercise are: Import Air Handler and Forklift Device Models into the IoT Cloud Management Console, and associate Air Handler and Forklift Device Model with the IoT Asset Monitoring.

  • Create Simulated Devices
      duration 2 Min
Set up simulated devices for industrial Air Handler and a Forklift. For this scenario, pre-created device simulator configuration files are provided. You will create devices, by using the Device Simulator UI, and set location values for the devices.

  • Create Asset Types
      duration 2 Min
Set up asset entities needed for configuring the IoT Asset Monitoring Cloud. You’ll define asset types for two types of typical assets used in factories: an industrial Air Handler and a Forklift.

  • Create Assets
      duration 2 Min
Create assets for an industrial Air Handler and a Forklift. These assets will be associated with the simulated devices created in the second video. The steps you perform are: Create Air Handler and Forklift Assets and associate simulated devices, and View assets on IoT Asset Monitoring dashboard.

  • Create Geofences
      duration 3 Min
Create the geofences that will be used in the IoT Asset Monitoring Cloud. You’ll create a geofence for the Oracle Santa Clara campus and upload a campus image that is overlaid on top of the map. For this scenario, you'll have a campus image.

  • Create Rules
      duration 3 Min
Set up fault detection rules in IoT Asset Monitoring Cloud. You’ll create a rule that will notify you when a forklift leaves a designated area and a rule that notifies me when an Air Handler is experiencing humidity and temperature fluctuations. The steps to perform in this exercise are: 1) Location based rule: Forklift Exits Oracle Santa Clara campus. 2) Incident generating rule: Incident when temperature level of Air handler >= 70. 3) Warning generating rule: Warning when humidity level for the Air handler <= 45.

  • Trigger Rules
      duration 3 Min
Trigger rules by using the Asset Monitoring simulator: Geofence violation, air handler over temperature, and air handler low humidity.

  • Create KPIs
      duration 2 Min
Create custom key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor asset performance. such as: Hourly maximum humidity reading, hourly minimum humidity reading, current humidity reading, and average humidity reading

  • Create Anomalies
      duration 2 Min
Create and publish a pattern-based anomaly in the Asset Monitoring application that will help you detect and correct an air handler performance issue. To achieve this objective, you’ll complete these tasks: Create a pattern-based anomaly using the pattern creation tool, and publish the pattern-based anomaly.

  • View Results
      duration 3 Min
Review the information returned by the custom key performance indicators (KPIs) and pattern-based anomaly you created. To achieve this objective, you’ll complete these tasks: View KPI values on the Asset Monitoring dashboard, and view detected anomalies on the Asset Monitoring dashboard.
