About This Workshop
The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Database Management service brings the best of Oracle’s industry-leading capabilities from enterprise manager into Oracle Cloud as a managed cloud service. OCI Database Management provides database performance and management capability for all flavors of Oracle Databases, which significantly reduce the burden on DBA and DevOps staff by providing a lifecycle solution encompassing monitoring, performance management, tuning, and database administration. OCI Database Management is part of the Oracle Cloud Observability and Management platform.

This workshop lists the steps to configure an on-premises Oracle Database (external database) in the Oracle Cloud and use the OCI Database Management to manage that database.

  • Prerequisite: Create a dynamic group and policies for agent communication
  • Download and Install the Management Agent Software
  • Register an Oracle Database with External Database Service

  • Setup Database Management for Oracle Cloud Databases
  • Setup Database Management for Oracle Autonomous Databases
  • Familiarity with Database is desirable
  • Some understanding of cloud and database terms is helpful
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is helpful
