Oracle’s Maximum Availability Architecture (Oracle MAA) is the best practices blueprint for data protection and availability for Oracle databases deployed on private, public or hybrid clouds. Data Guard and Active Data Guard provide disaster recovery for databases with recovery time objectives (RTO) that cannot be met by restoring from backup.
In this lab, You will learn how to setup hybrid data guard from on-premise to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. You will use a compute instance in the OCI to simulate the on-premise primary database, and provision a database system on OCI to act as the standby database in the cloud.

  • Lab 2: Prepare On Premise Database
  • Lab 3: Provision DBCS on OCI
  • Lab 4: Setup Connectivity Between Primary and Standby
  • Lab 5: Deploy Active Data Guard with LVM
  • Lab 6: Testing with Active Data Guard
  • Lab 7: Failover and Reinstate
  • Familiarity with Database is desirable, but not required
  • Some understanding of cloud and database terms is helpful
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is helpful
